I found this earlier in the day but it completely slipped my mind that this was a valuable resource. Rigsta1 on the FFXIVCore forums created a Registration and Bonus Item Guide that people can reference as they attempt to navigate the harsh terrain of Square Enix’s Account Management System.

It includes information and pictures for creating a Square Enix account and adding FFXIV to the account, along with details on choosing your mode of payment, the whole convoluted “I can actually pay for Crysta with PayPal” business and registering bonus items for your account.
