If you’ve reached this site through a post or, by some godly providence Google is linking these posts now, then congratulations! You’re now on the new home of Games and Geekery.

Now, before any celebration can really commence, it must be noted that there’s still a process of ongoing fixing that I have to do to get Games and Geekery formally ready. This includes writing new About and Contact Pages, recreating the blogroll, and seeing what I can do to make Games and Geekery essentially better.

To that end, I do not want to go through using this site alone, so I asked a friend of mine here in the Philippines who loves toys and tabletop gaming to help out and post when he likes. We’re still ironing out details, but he seems to like the idea of a place to write, since he used to write with me on the old gaming news blog I worked for from 2006 to 2008.

As for plans, well, I’m hoping to round out Games and Geekery with folks who want to discuss console games a bit better, or who have other general interests that fall into the geeky line of thought. While I set up a form for that purpose (boy, that’s a lot of different extra pages), feel free to email me a victorstillwater@gamesandgeekery.com for information, if you’re looking for a place to write.

Greetings and salutations stalwart saviours of imperiled kingdoms great and small. It is truly an honour to be able to announce that this blog of Games and Geekery is set to grow just a little larger on this most momentous of days. Having been cast out in shame from my own blog by the uncaring whims of the Not-Having-Any-Money Fairy, Sir Stillwater was gracious enough to offer me a place in his tidy little empire that we may one day overthrow such malevolent forces in our quest to uncover the hidden mysteries of the legendary Grind! Conquering the world will come about as a matter of course.

*ahem*

Okay then, enough with the nonsensical drivel. My given name (that being the name I gave to myself before I gave myself the name I used on my old blog) is Elandarex, though some of you may know of me as Alcasm, the one in charge of the now-deceased blog Deeply Delving Dungeons. It should go without saying that I am enamoured of games and gaming and that geeking out is perhaps my most favoured of pastimes. As if it weren’t also obvious enough thanks to the monicker attributed to my erstwhile soapbox, I am also chiefly taken in by the temptation of the epic RPG, whether they be played on tabletop, by one’s lonesome, or online with thousands of my fellow adventurers.

I do enjoy more than playing Roleplaying Games however, as I tend towards games of all genres (well, almost all genres, I never could get into sports games). Couple that with my background as a budding game designer and programmer and I have all manner of conceited opinions I assume that people want to hear. Of course, I say they’re opinions when really they tend to devolve into mindless ranting, but at least it is informed ranting! At the very least, regardless of whether you agree with my thoughts or not, I do hope that my musings inspire some musing of your own because that’s what this is all really about.

Gaming has had to (and still does) face a great deal of scrutiny and contempt from society at large and in a world where being geek has become chic it can honestly feel as though we’ve lost a lot of the magic that got us all into this hobby in the first place. But what is ultimately of importance is that we all enjoy ourselves and have fun. So whether I’m glowing with praise for some recent addition to the annals of gaming, ranting and raving with wild abandon, or just amusing myself with a pleasant diversion know that I do it all because I love it. I can only hope that in time to come you will come to enjoy it as much as I do.

So thanks again to Victor for giving me a place on his blog; I could have simply resurrected my own site in the free space but I know that working alongside such an excellent writer as Victor isn’t an opportunity to pass up.

Here’s to Gaming and Geekery!

Hi folks,

If you followed me over from my blogspot blog, welcome. If you stumbled upon this blog as well, welcome too!

I’m basically here to write about my experiences with geeky things and gaming stuff that interest me. Posts should come at least once a week, as I’m quite busy with graduate school these days, but I do love seeing what I think on paper (or on a screen), hence I’ll be doing my best to keep this updated with the things that interest me.

In the meantime, please don’t mind the missing posts or empty posts. Apparently, WordPress’ import function isn’t 100% precise, and thus some of my posts have either gone missing or have had videos removed.

In the meantime, I’ll see about getting some of my old posts on another blog I write for (my barriers to MMO entry series) on this site. :)

Well, it took a bit of doing, but I’ve finally realized that Scheduled Downtimes for games you like playing are a good thing: they give you time to do other things you like to do, like blog.

In any event, if you stumbled upon this particular blog, welcome. This is pretty straightforward, as most of the content here deals specifically with video games and other things of interest to me, which usually means geeky stuff. Whether it be gadgets, World of Warcraft, the PS3, or the latest season of Kamen Rider, you can expect a post to come up here when time permits.

As it happens, there is one important thing I’ll try to implement which I picked up from a friend. that’s a two-pronged approach to tagging posts. While you will see a list of tags on the sidebar, you’ll also get a heads-up as to the nature of the post in the title, which will be placed in brackets. It’s more for my benefit than for yours, but if it just so happens that it’s useful for you, then more power to you.

In any event, let’s end this introduction and get to the actual content, shall we?
